About the Class

Learn the fundamental techniques of pottery hand-building and create a wide variety of unique ceramic pieces, from decorative home items to functional dishes, planters, vases, sculptures, and more! Master key hand-building methods such as coiling, pinching, and slab building while exploring a diverse range of decorating and glazing techniques to bring your creations to life. We take a step by step approach to hand building clay skills with specific projects for each session, in a supportive learning environment built with happiness and positivity at its heart.  With an emphasis on relaxation and feeling recharged and rewarded by what we make, there is an opportunity to work on your own clay projects and to to learn from more experienced members of the class or hone existing skills if you have them. The items you make will be finished at different stages along the six week course and everything you make will be yours to treasure at the end of the course.  Build on knowledge from previous weeks to explore the wonderful world of hand building and decoration in clay pottery. This course is great for those of you who are looking for a regular class and can commit to 6 weekly classes.  Working with clay is hugely rewarding so give yourself the gift of a regular class to learn new skills and marvel at talents you never knew you had! For those who have wheel throwing as an existing skill the wheels are available during sessions. Fee Includes:  Classes, all materials, kiln-firing, coloured and clear glaze, tuition, and tools will be supplied at the studio.  Please wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting messy, flat shoes and tie long hair back.  Remove arm and hand jewellery and have short nails if possible. Suitable for:  all levels, including beginners.  Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver, who will also need to pay to attend the course.
